Project Rachel

"Everyone's life has tough choices. I was raised to be a good Catholic, to go to church on Sunday and to believe in God's plan. When I was nineteen I found myself in a relationship with a man that I didn't love. Yet, I was too afraid to leave. I was afraid to be alone. Eventually, I got pregnant. The idea of this little thing that would depend on me for everything and tie me to this man, it was unacceptable. When I told my boyfriend I was pregnant, he told me 'you need to take care of this.' I got an abortion. That was twelve years ago. Today I am married and my husband and I want nothing more than to have a child. Yet the memory of the life I threw away to meet my needs and the knowledge that I had turned my back on all that I had been raised to believe continued to haunt me. That's when I found Project Rachel. Through their help, I was able to reconcile with myself, with my child and with my God. I was finally able to find peace."

Catholic Charities offers hope and healing through a post abortion counseling and reconciliation program known as Project Rachel. This program offers private and confidential counseling services to the needs of those experiencing post abortion trauma.
