Life's challenges can affect any family. The Behavioral Health Division of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen, serves men, women and children struggling to cope with life in the face of psychological, behavioral and/or addiction issues. Programs, offered throughout the four Diocese counties, provide counseling, guidance and support to many who would not otherwise have access to these services.

Mental Health Outpatient
Life can often be difficult, confusing and unrelenting. Mental Health Outpatient provides short term, outpatient counseling to individuals, families, and couples who may be impacted by the loss of a loved one, need guidance in parenting a troubled teen or who are experiencing the stress of unemployment. Services are provided Diocesan-wide and address a variety of issues in an outpatient, community-based environment. Specialized services include treatment for survivors of sexual abuse and/or domestic violence, counseling and case management for individuals suffering from a mental illness, the developmentally disabled, in-home services for the physically challenged and programs in Spanish for clients with limited English. There is also Mental Health treatment available in East Brunswick for individuals who experience serious or chronic mental illness.

Partial Care
Partial Care Services offers three programs to serve individuals who need intensive psychiatric care. The services include an Adult Partial Care Program, an Adolescent Program that serves youth ages nine to seventeen, and a Latency Program that serves children ages six to nine. Programs serve those who are at risk of psychiatric hospitalization by providing three to five days of treatment each week. These services include psychiatric assessment, medication monitoring, education in daily living skills, and individual, group and family therapy.
