Throughout the history of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen, the Agency's goal has been to support those in the community who are poor; devalued or disenfranchised. Dedication to this mission traditionally focused on transitional housing. As a natural extension, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen, has undertaken the development of affordable permanent housing for the working poor; Homes are available for both rental and purchase.
The rental program provides spacious high quality housing at very affordable costs. The Homeownership program permits low income families to enjoy the benefits of owning a single family detached home, at a price affordable to low income working families. Eligibility for participation is based on income level. The men and women who have obtained housing through Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen, earn an average of 50 to 80 percent of the area's median income.
For those families wishing to purchase a home through the program, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen, provides low-income housing for families who would otherwise be unable to maintain suitable housing. Apartments are available for an indefinite period of time to eligible familes or individuals.
