Catholic Charities provides short-term, outpatient counseling and treatment to individuals, families, and couples who may be impacted by depression, anxiety, the loss of a loved one, parenting difficulties, children's behavior problems and other common life stressors.
Location: Bridgewater Family Service Center
Services: Outpatient marital, individual, family and group counseling; psychiatric services, including assessments and medication monitoring.
Eligibility Criteria: Resident or work in Somerset County.

Location: East Brunswick Family Service Center
Community Mental Health Center
Services: Out-patient mental health services for adults, adolescents and children that include family, marital, individual and group counseling, and psychiatric services. Wellness and Recovery group available for stable, chronically mentally ill adults.
Eligibility Criteria: Any client seeking mental health services and are free from acute psychiatric symptomatology, non-suicidal, non-homicidal, or command hallucinations, and are appropriate for outpatient mental health services are eligible; at least one family member is identified and diagnosed as having a disorder described in DSM IV. Client must be voluntary and willing to participate in treatment. Clients with primary organic or substance disorders are served only if these disorders are judged to be manageable within the context of the outlined treatment plan. Open to residents of Middlesex County.
Wait List: Clients generally seen for intake within 3-4 weeks. Priority referrals expedited.

Services: Family, marital, individual counseling. Psychiatric evaluations and medication monitoring services provided to clients in treatment at Catholic Charities.
Eligibility Criteria: Have a diagnosis of a mental health and/or behavioral health disorder as per current DSM criteria or other widely accepted criteria, non-suicidal, non-homicidal. Exclusion: requiring a level of care more intensive than outpatient treatment; unwilling to cooperate with staff and/or comply with program policies.
Wait List: Typically 2 - 4 weeks.
Location: Phillipsburg Family Service Center
Alternatives for Youth and Pediatric Counseling Services
Services: Outpatient counseling program for children at risk of psychiatric hospitalization or presenting behavioral problems. Services include family marital, individual, play therapies; psychiatric evaluations and medication monitoring.
Eligibility Criteria: Warren County resident with one child under 18. Children at risk for psychiatric hospitalization.
Wait List: Waiting list maintained by therapist.

Eligibility Criteria: Spanish speaking or bi-lingual mental health counseling. Must be free from acute psychiatric symptomatology, non-suicidal, non-homicidal, or command hallucinations, and be appropriate for outpatient mental health services; at least one family member is identified and diagnosed as having a disorder described in DSM IV. Client must be voluntary and willing to participate in treatment. Open to residents of Middlesex County, but most clients live in Perth Amboy or the surrounding area.

Location: Woodbridge Counseling Services at Health Center
Services: Individual, family and marital counseling; crisis counseling; information and referral services for low and low-moderate income residents.
Eligibility Criteria: Woodbridge Township residents, without age restrictions.
Wait List: Priority is given to crisis cases. Clients are then seen in order of their request for services. Currently, clients rarely wait more than two weeks for services.
